Pumps
From Domicella's wikiStyle
Pumps are a style of women's dress shoe that grips the foot chiefly at the toe and heel. They are close-fitting with a moderate to high heel.[1] Pumps can be either open or closed toe but do not cover the top of the foot, although there may be styles with decorative covering.
Pumps History
Pumps were originally lightweight flat shoes worn by servants in the 18th century. In the late 19th century, black patent pumps became proper attire for men attending evening dances. In the 20th century, women adopted pumps made of plastic or leather for day, evening, and leisurewear.[2]
